Unitech MS146 Barcode Slot Reader for Security Access, Time & Attendance Control

The Unitech MS146 offered by semicron.com is a flexible, rugged and cost effective barcode slot reader capable of reading any bar coded identification card or badge. Typically, barcode slot readers are used for security access control, time and attendance, and many other applications where restricted access and individual identification is required. It is designed to read barcodes printed on id cards or badges. Some barcode slot readers also have built-in magnetic stripe reader (MSR) or card reader, allowing them to serve dual purpose of reading barcodes and magnetic stripes on id cards and badges.

This slot barcode reader is typically installed on the wall or door frame at the main entrance. It can also be used as a desk-top application, and can interface with most popular hosts, such as computers or laptops. To use the device, the user simply swipes the card through the slot on the reader, with a smooth stroke. On completion of the swipe, the user should see the LED on the device turn green as well as hear the sound of a built-in buzzer, indicating that the card was read successfully. If the card was not successfully read, the user will not hear any buzzer, and the LED will turn red.

The Unitech MS146 barcode slot reader is available with infra-red or visible light models. The infra-red ensures accurate reading of either visible and laminated cards or badges. The MS146 slot reader features a wide barcode slot with flexible reading angle, and with a resolution of 0.15mm, it can perfectly read high density labels. Its water resistant base, rugged housing, sealed optical system, and IP54 rated sealing makes the MS146 suitable for use in harsh industrial environments. Optional mounting bracket is available to safely secure the unit in any direction.

The slot barcode reader is user configurable via computer programming, and is compatibile with all popular computers and computer devices. It comes in TTL, Keyboard wedge, RS232 and USB interfaces. With its advanced data editing feature, the MS146 is suitable for reading different cards of different dimensions and printing qualities, making it the most reliable, accurate and flexible installation barcode slot reader in its class.
