The second type of scale is the label printing scale, which can print bar codes with price and item description. The labels are then placed on the products or on the shelf.

A typical grocery store point of sale system consists of a POS computer and monitor, Cash Register Express software, cash drawer, pole or customer display, receipt printer, weight scale, and barcode scanner. These peripherals are connected to the POS computer, and they help in reducing the time to check out a customer. Barcode scanner reads the barcode on the product and CRE quickly adds it to the invoice. If touch screen monitor is being used, the cashier can touch the button for that item on the screen to add it to invoice instead of scanning.

Supported Weight Scales for Grocery store

Cash Register Express (CRE) software supports Avery Berkel/Weigh-Tronix and CAS POS Scales. The scales come in 15lb, 30lb and 60lb capacities. Most grocery stores use the 15lb or the 30 lb scale. It also supports label printing scales that allow you to print barcodes with item description and price, and place the label on the items you sell.

Avery Berkel POS Interface Scales

CRE supports Avery Berkel 6700, which is a series of 6720 and 6712 Cash Register Scales. The 6720 measures in pounds while the 6712 measures in ounce. It has easy to read, 6-digit LCD external display with large characters.

CAS POS Interface Scales
