These cradles meet the application needs of a single consumer as well as those of users in large enterprise-wide installations. Up to four multi-slot serial cradles can be daisy chained to a four-slot Ethernet cradle; SPT terminals in the cradles will synchronize sequentially. Symbol also offers a Vehicle Mounted Cradle for use with the SPT 1800 and PPT 2800 Series in mobile field applications.

Select Cradles to Meet Your Needs Cradle specifications are here Symbol offers a complete line of cradles for the SPT 15XX and SPT 17XX/18XX Series of pocketable computers. These cradles meet the application needs of the single consumer as well as those of users in large enterprise-wide installations, and includes: • Single-Slot Serial Cradle • Single-Slot Modem Cradle • Four-Slot Serial Cradle • Four-Slot Ethernet Cradle Software available from Symbol or third-party software developers facilitates the transfer of data from the terminal to a host. This software supports the entire line of cradles offered by Symbol for the SPT product line. SPT 15XX cradles are compatible with the PalmIII and the IBM Workpad. An optional kit enables up to four SPT 15XX four-slot cradles to be stacked. In addition to providing communications, the SPT 17XX/18XX cradles recharge the battery in each terminal. Single-Slot Serial Cradle This cradle provides a one-to-one communications link between a single terminal and a host computer. This is typical of a remote user or a small business where only a few users synchronize their terminal to the same host. Standard Desktop Software from Symbol facilitates the communication between the terminal and a host computer. Ask about custom software, which can be developed for specialized applications. Single-Slot Modem Cradle Symbol offers a 33.6 bps (V.34) single-slot modem cradle for remote synchronization over dial-up phone lines. The modem cradle is configured with dual RJ11 phone jacks to accommodate an external phone and an RJ45 jack for serial connection to a host computer. The modem cradle also has an RJ45 serial connection that enables it to double as a serial cradle. Users choose the operating mode via the Modem Sync/Serial Sync selector switch. The modem cradle is designed for use on a countertop or mounted on a wall. Four-Slot Serial Cradle This cradle is designed for applications where multiple terminals are in use at the same location. The RS-232 connection provides fast, automatic, multiple terminal communications with a host computer. Up to four, four-slot serial cradles can be daisy chained together allowing up to 16 terminals to synchronize sequentially. When a cradle detects the presence of a terminal it automatically starts synchronization. A multi-color LED on each cradle informs users of the synchronization status. Standard Desktop Software from Symbol, or third-party software from Aether Systems, provides many-to-one enterprise-level synchronization with local or remote hosts. Four-Slot Ethernet Cradle The four-slot Ethernet cradle connects to a hub and enables the synchronization of multiple terminals with local or remote host computers. Using the NetSync manager application, multiple terminals synchronize concurrently with different host computers, or synchronize sequentially with the same host. Using third-party software from Aether Systems, multiple users can synchronize concurrently with the same or different host computers. Up to four multi-slot serial cradles can be daisy chained to a four-slot Ethernet cradle; SPT terminals in the cradles will synchronize sequentially. Symbol also offers a Vehicle Mounted Cradle for use with the SPT 17XX/SPT 18XX Series in mobile field applications. |
